2017 Cape Epic returns to Hermanus
After hosting stages during 2006 and 2008, we’re very proud to see the 2017 Cape Epic Cycle Race return to Hermanus. This year’s Cape Epic will take place from 19 to 26 March, with Stage 1 and Stage 2 starting from Hermanus.
During the race, local and international mountain bikers compete in one of the worlds most demanding mountain bike races which will take them through tough terrain; roughly 700km of unspoilt scenery, 15 000m in climbs, and some of the most magnificent mountain passes in South Africa.

Hermanus & Mountain Biking
In recent years Hermanus has become something of a mountain biking mecca, with trails springing up on the nearby hills and valleys. It’s becoming one of the preferred venues for mountain bike enthusiasts. One of the most recent new races was held during the Hermanus Kalfiefees at Wildekrans wine estate, near Bot River. Aimed at enthusiasts, the race presented a not-too-challenging 35 km track, with magnificent scenery and loads of fun.
